Pastor Mike and Jimmie Owens have been in full time ministry
since 1980. Pastor Mike received his undergraduate education through
East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, N.C., and is pursuing his master's
degree through the Church of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland,
Tennessee. After pastoring churches in North Carolina and Southern Ohio,
they accepted the call to pastor New Life Church of God in December
of 1994. Pastor Mike is also a Certified Public Safety Chaplain with
the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee, and the State of Georgia. He
currently serves as a Chaplain for Public Safety in Dawson County, Georgia.
His vision is not only to shepherd and disciple the church body at New
Life, but to minister to the community as well.
Jimmie was reared in a ministerial home and learned to love the Arts
through worship at an early age. She has counted it a privilege to encourage
the body of Christ through hymns, choruses, drama, visual arts, sign
language and the art of dance.
Pastor Mike and Jimmie are blessed to have reared three daughters into
the knowledge of the Lord Jesus. The oldest, Jessica, is married to
James Bishop and they have four children: Tifani, Jamie, Samuel and
Patrick. Jennifer, the Owens' second daughter, is a Cum Laud graduate
of Lee University and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree. Jennifer
is married to Tony Wooten. Janah, the youngest, is a full time student
at Lee University.
Pastor Mike and Jimmie encourage you to join the vision of discipleship
at New Life. Many great churches today have a vision for evangelization,
prophecy, and word of faith and many other attributes of the Word of
God. But, Pastor Mike has heard the heart of the Lord and found that
many followers are not being discipled. Jesus said for us to "go
and make disciples" in His name (Matthew 28:19). Learning to be
a true disciple and follow on to know the voice of the Lord will lead
us into the ways that the Lord has for us, and not after our own heart
or the call of the world.
