Is
Your Tank Empty? Before I opened my Bible this morning, I was felling incredible sorry for myself. I had a list of tasks I didn’t think I could ever get through, and I felt exhausted and drained of creativity and enthusiasm. Where would I find the time and strength to be successful today? As I began reading 1 Peter 5, I wondered how, in my current state of mind, I could draw any helpful conclusions at all. However, when I read the first words of verse 6, I realized I needed to change my attitude to that of humble submission. I relaxed as God reminded me of his power and that his plan for my life could not be ruined by me, a mere human being. It was as if God said, “My child, trust me. I’ll lift you up when the right time comes!” I decided to give my cares to God, and he reminded me that we have a Master who is powerful and caring. You too can hand God your worries, as the Scriptures implore you to do. Humble yourself before God, and remember it’s his power that fuels your success, whether at work or at home. If you are waiting for a promotion, wondering when you will master a particular task, or seeking relief from a situation you are in, God is behind you 100 percent. Give him the credit, wait for his perfect timing, and know that he cares about your success and peace of mind. Devotion from Becoming: The Devotional Bible for Women |
